Awesome podcast. It was interesting to hear some new stories of the Tailwind Operation that I hadn’t heard before. I can’t tell you how much I admire Gene and his men who ran a running gun battle with the NVA for those 4 days. Proud that I was there to help them out. I was saddened to hear about Gene’s passing and have missed our phone conversations ever since. I still believe that this op should be made into a movie. Semper Fi to those Green Beret’s .
Hey Jocko,
I first saw you on Joe Rogan and you inspired me like no one else has. Since seeing you and joining your podcast I have started running (at 4:30 a.m.), running again after work, lifting weights and swimming before going back home. You have taught me so much about how to live life in so few words. However, I struggle with alcohol addiction. I know it’s bad, I try to stop, but every weekend that rolls around I find myself destroying all the progress I made through the week. I’m overweight and looking to get my life in order; can you offer any advice on this? I just can’t seem to kick this one stinking habit out of my life no matter how much I want to.
This history you are saving is priceless. So much of today’s history is being bastardized to fit a political message. I have read three of Tilt’s Books and will be getting more on the SOG stories. Keep sharing the truth about the operations and give these guys the credit they are due.
‘SOGcast’ 🙂 Keep this stuff coming Jocko and Echo and Tilt, this is unique. Thanks for everything.
Can you get the CH53 crew on and get them to describe their part ? That autorotate would have been a defining time of their lives.
Where is 248? I watched part of it on YouTube… But when I watch on YouTube I am constantly reminded of how tiny my biceps are compared to Echo. I had to drink some Jocko tea and Deadlift my ’91 Dodge caravan for a bit just to feel better about my lack of biceptual muscle mass.
