Hi Jocko,
There is someone in my life who looks up to people like the Navy SEALs because they push themselves to their limits, take risks, and get the job done.
I have watched this person work hard in order to become a stronger and more capable person himself.
My problem is that this person thinks that it is acceptable to coerce and intimidate others to change them to become more like him.
For example, he often yells or becomes angry at other people when they make small mistakes or when they fail to perform unimportant tasks the way how he wants them to.
He acts this way towards people in his life who are less capable than he is, and who don’t know how to stand up for themselves
(for some of these people, walking away from the relationship is not a simple decision either).
I think that he thinks he is doing a service for other people by showing them ‘tough love’ and that he is doing it ‘for their own good’.
I also think that he takes a lot of inspiration from members of the military, who might yell and shout at each other a lot in order to improve themselves(like in Bootcamp).
How would you explain to this person that, while it is ok to push and challenge himself, it is wrong to force other people to change even if it may benefit them in the long run?
Thanks,
Alex
Once I turn on the cast… it’s nearly impossible to shut off. Sometimes I’m not even listening to what your saying. Your dam voice is captivating. haha How much time do you dedicate to the podcast? Minus finding literature to read… even though I know that’s a huge part of it. Who created your website? I do web design. Might be able to give you a few ideas for a better UI/UX. Keep on Keepin on. O, who can dead lift more… you or echo?
