Mr Meyer. I am a Police Officer in Vancouver, Canada. I don’t know if you will read this but I wanted to say thank you. After 22 years on the street I had to pull myself off the road last year because of PTSD. I guess after seeing so much death and suffering it took its toll. It was hard for me as I was always under the impression of, “I didn’t serve and deploy. I don’t deserve to be diagnosed with this.” I was listening to Jocko podcast 277 where you spoke of your struggles, but also spoke of the struggles that cops have to face. Was a rare thing, especially from someone like yourself who has faced so much, to have what I, and other officers, have dealt with. I just wanted to say thank you. With the drama that is engulfing the world right now it truly helped my soul to listen to you speaking to Jocko. Long story short (too late, I know) …Thank you. I wish i could repay your kind and actual understanding words. Best I could do is an awesome challenge coin. LOL. I know it isn’t muchand I am sure you have hundreds, but I am sure it would be one that no one else you know has. Be well and safe. Take care, Dakota. Be safe….and just so you know, as a cop, it was hard not to give you a hard time for being a hose dragger 🙂 Thanks again. Erik
Jocko….your podcasts and inspiration has truly been something that has helped me through some dark times. I know you hear this on countless occasions from millions of people…just wanted to add my name to that list. Thank you for all you do. Be safe
Jocko please remind folks that it they are active duty, need a clearance for employment or subject to lifestyle polygraphs that going out and taking mushrooms could have negative consequences.
I want to thank you and Dakota for this podcast.
It was raw and true and beautiful. I think it was the most real and powerful podcast I have ever heard.
And thank you both for talking about first responders. I don’t think people really stop to think of the things they see and can never unsee.
