Jocko!
I thoroughly enjoy your podcasts. I am a Specwar “Brat” and have heard countless war stories.
I spent many a summer strutting around the “grinder” in my own UDT’s as a kid.
My dad was MCPOC of UDT-21, ST-5, NSWG-1, NSWU-4, and the Navy Parachute Team.
Thank you for your hard work! Keep it up!
HOO! YAH!
Jocko,
I discovered your podcast via the “Fighter Pilot Podcast” during lockdown last year and have really enjoyed listening.
Last month, I had a conversation with a young man in my son’s class who had just finished his freshman year of college. This young man had grown up with my son and i had coached him in several sports and he was part of our middle school carpool. To my surprise (and even more so my wife who witnessed the conversation) the young man thanked me for impacting his life in positive way and for lessons learned.
The young man then asked if I had any additional advice that I might share, and I asked;
“do you make your bed every morning”? The answer was not surprisingly a no and so I suggested he should start there. Ironically, even after spending 6 years in the military I had gotten out of the habit of making my own bed but started doing so again during covid. Make bed, work out, go to work – all added structure during a time when there wasn’t much structure.
I just bought 2 copies each of “Hero Code” and “Sea Stories” for me and my son. I bought THREE copies of “make your bed” – going to give a copy to that young man.
thanks again!

This episode was incredible. I listened to it during my 6 hour long training run today and time flew by so quickly, I didn’t even notice it. Glad my running coach recommended this podcast.
AMD McRaven is incredible. My hat off to you Sir!
