I had the pleasure of attending a discussion between General Yeager and Me. Anderson at Oshkosh sometime in the late ‘90’s. I was the first in line to get in- waited for over an hour to get a front seat. I don’t even remember the topics- I was in too much awe with their presence. But I do very much remember ONE thing. Sitting in the front row, listening to every word and not ever making a sound or distraction- at the very least due to respect, General Yeager turned and stared right at me with a look that no one under his command would have wanted. His eyes were right on me. I know I did nothing, and I’m good with knowing that, but I saw a look that enemy fighter pilots feared would never be looking through a gunsight.
Jocko – great job. To hear Col. Anderson in his own voice discuss his memories and experiences is just priceless and I hope this interview remains accessible for the ages. Col. Anderson is one of the greatest fighter pilots of the greatest generation. And it’s clear he is also a prince of a man. Humble, high performance and a natural leader. He’s also a gifted storyteller, and what a story he has to tell. Just awesome. The P-51 of podcasts….

May his memory be eternal.
