On The Ground, by John Stryker Meyer

During the Vietnam War, a “secret war” was fought across the fence in Laos, Cambodia and North Vietnam, unknown to the media or the public, under the aegis of the Military Assistance Command Vietnam’s top secret Studies and Observation Group. SOG’s chain of command for missions and after-action reports extended to the White House and the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Across The Fence, By John Stryker Meyer
(From Ep. 180)
For eight years, far beyond the battlefields of Vietnam and the glare of media distortions, American Green Berets fought a deadly secret war in Laos and Cambodia under the aegis of the top secret Military Assistance Command Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group, or SOG. Go deep into the jungle with five SOG warriors surrounded by 10,000 enemy troops as they stack up the dead to build a human buttress for protection. Witness a Green Beret, shot in the back four times and left for dead, who survives to fight savagely against incredible odds to complete his missions.

Awesome podcast! Looking forward to the next with John.
Don’t know if you guys see these things. I never got a college degree or anything, dealt with depression and what not, plenty of excuses, into my early 30s. I’m a highish level bjj player but sucked at work and monetary success. I got in the door at a legit m manufacturing place and works my ass off cleaning neglected machines — got first promotion because of a no notice quit, first 30% raise in pay after 2.5 weeks. It’s still low but the OT rate is legit and there’s as much as I want available. Your podcast has really helped my step up my game and become a man. Thank you guys
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this!
WTFx2…..Over! I stumbled across, ordered and read ‘Across the Fence’ in like 72hrs a few years ago, it captivated me for days after I finished it…. Thought provoking and captivating. A longtime friend and Army buddy of mine, who had gone Ninja-Eagle up to FtBragg from HAAF 1/75 where we met, turned me on to your podcast. The KoolAid was administered via Beer Funnel. It’s been a while since I listened to you in the wake of a toxic marriage-divorce, some poor life choices and jail. Heard your voice dubbed in on a motivational youtube video, I didn’t even finish the video. as I pulled up your website/podcast thinking that it had been so long….. The “adrenaline slammed into my Bloodstream” as BILL “STRYKER” MEYER jumped off the screen at me. in the middle of the second PodCast and like you it’s Boggles My Mind how these guys operated and the risk they accepted and had some less than desirable contingencies. JSOC at its infancy.
Thanks for continuing to bring Tilt on. What a great fun guy. Inspiring.
Seems like a normal sort of kid, obviously he showed the right stuff to some cunning evaluators he hadn’t developed before going in. Ah, the Army. A fascinating speaker.
Let’s hope he has few more books yet to be written.
It is incredible to listen to Mister John Stryker Meyer! One cannot comprehend what this man did. Especially their very young Vietnamese counterparts. I’m speechless and just would like to thank those men for their service and pay them my respect!
And not to forget, thanks to you and your crew for the great Podcast!
Best regards from Switzerland
