Love the MACV SOG episodes. I sent a few emails begging for you to interview Nick Brokhausen. His books We Few and Whispers in the Tall Grass are hilarious and well written. I think only you can do the interview justice.
He was on the SOG cast but it was new and audio wasn’t great and I don’t think Striker had it down yet. You will bring out his story and humor which is amazing.
In addition your podcast will bring attention to his fantastic books which I don’t think have received the attention they should have ( my girlfriend loved it and knew nothing about military/veterans or vietnam).
All of your podcasts are inspirational, these records are making a difference in people lives beyond the targeted audience. However, there is something about the MACV SOG episodes that has an elevated intensity and impact on the mind set. How did these men achieve these impossible and crazy missions walking into certain death, while maintaining sanity and a sense of humour on an individual and team level??
What are their key success factors? Sure they’re trained, brave, a little bit crazy, too proud or pigheaded stubborn to be taken out by the enemy but there is something here beyond the Myers Briggs personality tests, something that either can’t be gauged or is so off the charts it doesn’t register on a radar.
I have no doubt I’m going to enjoy this podcast
btw.: RPD stands for “ручной пулемёт Дегтярёва – Ruchnoy Pulemyot Degtyaryova” loosely translated as light machine gun Degtyaryova after its constructor Vasily Alekseyevich Degtyaryov. It is replacement of the much stronger DP-27 that was chambered as 7.62×54. The RPD was chambered as 7.62×39. It was more economical version. The recoil and setup comes from the famous German Maschinengewehr 42 … the MG-42.
Most of you veterans fear the business world because you are schooled to work in teams supporting each other. You never get this in the business environment … in most cases there everybody feasts on everybody, and you climb somebody’s back while having your back climbed by another person. You rarely find there comradery and most of the time you are alone … alone in the valley of shadows of death …
Cheers.

Your recordings are changing the lives of people outside of your intended audience, and all of your podcasts are inspirational. Nonetheless, the MACV SOG episodes have a higher level of intensity and mental impact for some reason. How did these men do these insane and unachievable tasks while marching into imminent death while remaining sane and humorous both individually and collectively?
What are the main reasons behind their success? There is something here that goes beyond the Myers-Briggs personality testing, something that is either incalculable or so abnormal that it doesn’t register on a radar. Sure, they are trained, courageous, a touch crazy, too proud or pigheaded stubborn to be taken down by the enemy.
