Great episode.
Jocko’s pictures of his watch every morning are a motivation for me. I was a bubblehead so waking up early is no probably for me. My problem is keeping that habit up because my bedtime is never consistent.
Has Jocko talked about his bedtime routine that allows him to wake at 4:30am? Any recommendations?
From reading Extreme Ownership to listening to you on various podcasts including your own, I have become consumed by your past experiences and the lessons you pass on. However, nothing I have heard to date has resonated as loudly within me then 0:00-9:30 of this podcast. I want to express my gratitude for your service in the past, present, and in the future. Thank you.
Question for Jocko.
In certain fields of work, you will often work with people who wouldn’t be considered ‘normal’ people. You will work amongst former convicts and generally undesirable types of people. Im referring to the construction and trades field. In this economic time its hard to walk away from a 20-something dollar per hour job because you don’t enjoy working with a convict or someone that has criminal and bully-like intentions. We generally suck it up and just keep our mouthes shut.
How would you handle a situation like that?
I was contemplating extinguishing my own smoldering embers when I listened to this episode. I’m not sure what prompted you to write your opening thoughts but, I needed to hear them.
Thank you.
Jocko, it sounds like you struggle with the possibility that your book and your podcast makes you seem self-centered. Listening to this podcast, it sounds like that is a real struggle for you and you have come to terms with it. I want you to know, you are so far from being self-centered and I appreciate all of your advice and your stories. You’re doing a great job for your even greater cause. Thank you
